AUWCL Hosts Symposium on Legal Aspects of Agriculture Business 

Ambassador of Brazil to the United States Luis Alberto Figueiredo presents opening remarks


On Feb. 10-11, 2016, the Brazil-U.S. Legal & Judicial Studies Program at American University Washington College of Law, McLarty Associates, and the Instituto Justiça e Cidadania jointly hosted a symposium titled “Legal Aspects of Agribusiness: Brazil, the United States and China.

Part of the annual Founders Celebration, the conference comparatively explored the legal complexities of agribusiness in the three markets. Offering prominent speakers from the public and private sectors, the program focused on topics ranging from trade policy and the future of agribusiness to biotechnology and the consumer. 

The symposuim brought together a community of global experts, including The Honorable Luis Figueiredo, the ambassador of Brazil to the United States, several justices from Brazil's second hightest court, the Superior Tribunal of Justice, and Jason Hafemeister, trade policy coordinator at the USDA/Foreign Agricultural Service, among others.
