Angie McCarthy ’13 Wins American University Diversity Award

Angie McCarthy ‘13, Program Coordinator for the Women and the Law Program and an AUWCL alumnae, is the recipient of this year’s American University Diversity Award. The Diversity Award is given to a staff member who seeks out, values, and utilizes the knowledge and experiences of a diverse community.

Among her many accomplishments, Angie spearheaded the creation of the “Making Women’s Legal History” exhibit at our Tenley Campus. The project is an exemplary and lasting contribution to our law school community.

Making Women’s Legal History” is a multi-panel exhibit that details AUWCL’s unique history as an institution founded by two women. During the Tenley Campus ribbon-cutting events in February, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was given a tour of the new law school campus, during which she spent over ten minutes viewing the exhibit and engaging with Angie, the faculty, and students from the Women’s Law Association.

The “Making Women’s Legal History” exhibit remains on display outside of Claudio Grossman Hall in the Yuma Building. Congratulations to Angie on this well-deserved recognition.
