American University Washington College of Law to Accept GRE Scores Beginning Fall 2019 Admissions Cycle

July 10, 2018

Beginning this September for the fall 2019 admissions cycle, those seeking admission to the JD program at American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL) will have the option to submit an LSAT score or the score received on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).

The option to take the GRE may prove advantageous to a broad range of applicants who plan to take the GRE, including those seeking admission to American University’s dual degree programs.

“While the LSAT remains the most common standardized test used at American University Washington College of Law and all other law schools, we hope that giving students the option to use the GRE will expand the cultural, educational, and experiential diversity of our applicant pool,” said Professor Andrew F. Popper, chair of the law school’s Committee on Admissions.

AUWCL’s decision is consistent with many law schools that now allow applicants to submit GRE scores.
