On January 28, 2020, American University Washington College of Law and the Stephen S. Weinstein Trial Advocacy Program were pleased to welcome AUWCL alumnus Stephen S. "Skippy" Weinstein '65.  Skippy spent the afternoon co-teaching an Advanced Trial Advocacy alongside Associate Director Elizabeth L. Lippy.  Afterward, he addressed a crowd of students, faculty, and alumni discussing his legal career. 

On Feb. 5, 2020, American University Washington College of Law hosted the first workshop of the Comparative Law Initiative in Washington, DC (CLIW) co-sponsored by GW and George Mason Law Schools on the topic of Poland’s Anti-Constitutional Backslide. The lecture focused on Wojciech Sadurski’s new book Poland’s Anti-Constitutional Breakdown.

Connecting with an audience is the mark of a skilled actor, but for 2L Hannah Skopicki it is also the mark of an effective litigator. Skopicki credits the development of her public speaking skills to Law Revue, where she serves as public relations chair and stage manager.

On Friday, Feb. 7, environmental scholars gathered for a symposium on Air Quality and Environmental Justice at American University Washington College of Law. Hosted by the Sustainable Development Law and Policy Brief, attendees were encouraged to think through an age-old question: what should we do about climate change?

American University Law Review hosted its 69th annual symposium on Friday, Jan. 31. The topic was unavoidably relevant— Democracy and the Law: 2020.
