The Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law hosted the 21st Annual Inter-American Moot Court Competition from May 22-27, co-sponsored by the Inter-American Moot Court on Human Rights and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. One hundred teams from 24 countries, involving over 600 students, professors, and human rights professionals participated in the competition.

On Sunday, May 22, American University Washington College of Law welcomed Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch as its 2016 Commencement speaker. The Spring 2016 class graduated 394 students with a Juris Doctor (JD), 65 with a Master of Laws (LL.M.), and one with a Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD).

On Friday, May 20, 2016, the Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia Foundation (HBA-DC Foundation) presented the annual PASOS event celebrating the achievements of Latino/a law school graduates in the Greater Washington, D.C. area.

Dean Grossman held an alumni dinner in Paris on Monday, May 16, at Cafe Artcurial in honor of Dean-Designate Camille Nelson. Nelson and her husband, David Rowntree, attended the dinner, along with nine Washington College of Law alumni, who helped welcome them to our robust international alumni community.

Grant awards play a vital role in contributing to innovation in research, teaching, and project development at AUWCL. The law school was recently awarded three grants that will help enable our students and projects continue to pursue their work.
