The Women and the Law Leadership Award recognizes the extraordinary accomplishments of alumnae who made significant contributions to the field of law and their service to the law school. This year, the program honored Lisa Dewey ’93 and her commitment to pro bono work and access to justice.

On Friday, April 21, American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL) hosted the Academic Conference of the 2017 Luxembourg Forum, which took place in Washington April 18-21. The Luxembourg Forum is a legal exchange between the U.S. Supreme Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) that provides high-level transatlantic judicial consultations and discussion with principal goals of facilitating dialogue and enhancing mutual understanding between the U.S. and EU judicial systems.

Celebration of Scholarships and Awards Ceremony Honors Student Excellence

On April 18, the Office of Development and Alumni Relations hosted its Celebration of Scholarships and Awards Ceremony honoring student excellence. Through the generosity of AUWCL friends and alumni, the law school was able to award over $400,000 in named scholarships to exceptional students, in addition to the $17 million provided in financial aid.

Karchmer End of Year Celebration recognizing this year's Fellows. The Marshall-Brennan Fellows work with teachers, administrators and lawyers to teach students their rights as citizens, the strategic benefits of voting, how lawmaking occurs, and other fundamental constitutional processes.
