2L Joy Applewhite serves as President of American University Washington College of Law’s Black Law Student Association, a group which focuses on articulating and promoting the needs and goals of Black law students in order to effectuate change in the legal and local communities.

Students new to the world of business took a deep dive into financial fundamentals during American University’s third annual Business Basics Bootcamp, held Jan. 6-7, 2020.

On Jan. 2, 2020, Dean Camille Nelson and American University Washington College of Law hosted the law’s schools fourth annual Red, White, and Brew reception during the 2020 Association of American Law Schools annual conference in Washington, D.C.

Professor and Dean Emeritus Claudio Grossman has been awarded the 2020 Goler T. Butcher Medal by the American Society of International Law (ASIL). The Medal is in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development and effective realization of international human rights law. The Medal will be officially presented to Professor Grossman at the ASIL Annual Meeting on April 2, 2020.
