This semester, Jose Aristimuño, SPA/BA ’12, is more frequently seen on television than inside Pence Law Library. The 2L is taking a year off from American University Washington College of Law to serve as national director of Hispanic media for Martin O’Malley’s presidential campaign.

On Nov. 18, 2015, Centro de Los Derechos del Migrante, a transnational migrant rights organization founded by Rachel Micah Jones ‘03, presented Professor Jayesh Rathod with a Breaking Boundaries Award for his work as director of American University Washington College of Law’s Immigrant Justice Clinic.

Tanya M. Jones-Bosier is passionate about mentoring students who are at various levels of their educational careers. As a graduate of AUWCL, she aims to share her experiences as a law student and the lessons she has learned, and continues to learn, as an attorney. She recently returned to campus as an adjunct professor teaching an externship seminar in the Externship Program. In reflecting on her new role as a teacher, she shares what she hopes to impart to students.

On November 12, 2015, the Pretrial Justice Initiative at American University Washington College of Law hosted an invitation-only roundtable discussion, which brought together leading bail reform advocates, civil rights lawyers, community organizers, and representatives from state and federal government agencies to discuss racial and ethnic disparities in bail and pretrial detention. 

On October 29, 2015, Nancy Boswell ‘87, director of U.S. & International Anti-Corruption Law Summer Program at American University Washington College of Law, spoke on the anti-corruption panel hosted by the American Society of International Law.
