American University Washington College of Law, the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights, and the RFK Center for Human Rights have organized a week-long training on the Inter-American and Universal systems of human rights for government officials working in human rights. 

Waris Husain, Esq., an SJD candidate at American University Washington College of Law, traveled to Nepal last April to participate in a speaking tour sponsored by the State Department's Bureau of International Information Programs. Recently, we caught up with Husain, who is currently working on his dissertation. He shared what he gained from the trip and how he intends to leverage the experience to help him achieve his long-term career goals.  

On June 30, AUWCL students participating in the International Organizations, Law and Diplomacy summer program in Geneva, Switzerland, had the opportunity to witness an historic resolution adopted by the United Nations Human Rights Council.

On Tuesday, June 28, alumni and friends gathered for an evening in Miami, Fla. to honor Dean Claudio Grossman for his 21-year commitment and dedication to serving the law school.

Angie MCarthy ‘13, Program Coordinator for the Women and the Law Program and an AUWCL alumnae, is the recipient of this year’s American University Diversity Award. The Diversity Award is given to a staff member who seeks out, values, and utilizes the knowledge and experiences of a diverse community.
