Oral History of International Arbitrator and former President of the Int'l Court of Justice: Stephen Schwebel

06:15PM - 08:30PM Washington College of Law Y112
In 2012, the Institute for Transnational Arbitration (ITA) launched Preserving Perspectivesan effort to record the oral histories of the leading and most influential arbitrators in the world to chronicle the evolution of modern international arbitration.

The Washington College of Law (WCL) and our internationally-recognized Center on International Commercial Arbitration is delighted to partner with the ITA and offer the first of its kind programming in the United States, namely a forum for a series of interviews with the world’s most prestigious international arbitrators. We invite you to attend our inaugural interview to celebrate the career and accomplishments of Judge Stephen Schwebel, the former president of the International Court of Justice and prominent international arbitrator, whose career has spanned over six decades and covered nearly three generations of international law lawyers. Margrete Stevens, who served nearly 20 years at the World Bank’s International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes and currently works with King & Spalding’s International Arbitration team, will conduct Judge Schwebel’s interview. Advanced registration is required, as seating is limited for this event and space will be allocated on a “first registered, first seated” basis.

The opening reception (6:15 PM) is generously sponsored by Three Crowns LLP, King & Spalding LLP, and the office of the WCL Dean, Camille Nelson.
