Health, Equity, and Law after Dobbs

09:00AM - 05:00PM Washington College of Law

The Health Law and Policy Program at American University Washington College of Law, in partnership with American University Department of Sociology, The George Washington University Law School, The George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health, and American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics (ASLME), is pleased to present “Health, Equity, and Law after Dobbs.”  This interdisciplinary conference will bring together experts to examine the legal, medical, public health, and sociological aftermath of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. By assembling an interdisciplinary group of researchers, practitioners, and advocates, the conference will provide a fuller picture of both the impact of the law on the books and the realities of the law on the ground. The goal of the conference is to help scholars, practitioners, advocates, and students understand current policy and practice related to abortion, as well as the reverberating effects of the Dobbs decision on the delivery of health care and society more broadly. It also aims to develop a research agenda and a broader strategic focus for advancing more equitable access to reproductive health care in the long term.

This is a cosponsored event. The programming on Friday, February 24, 2023 will be held on American University Washington College of Law's campus and the programming on Saturday, February 25, 2023 will be held on The George Washington University Law School's campus.
