“An Afternoon with an Advocate” Attorney Lance Wade, Esquire: lead defense counsel in U.S. v. Elizabeth A. Holmes

12:00PM - 01:00PM Washington College of Law- NT01

Join us in a discussion with noted white-collar defense counsel, Lance Wade, in the inaugural "Afternoon with an Advocate" series, presented by the Stephen S. Weinstein Advocacy Program.  Attorney Wade is a partner at Williams & Connolly LLP, and lead defense counsel in U.S. v. Elizabeth A. Holmes, the high-profile criminal fraud case that made headlines around the world and rocked the biotech community.

Ms. Holmes is a former biotechnology entrepreneur and CEO of Theranos, a now-defunct health technology company that soared in valuation after the company claimed to have revolutionized blood testing by developing methods that could use surprisingly small volumes of blood, such as from a fingerprick. This case is the subject of a book, Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup, an HBO documentary feature film, The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley; and a Hulu miniseries called The Dropout.

Dean Roger A. Fairfax will welcome Attorney Wade and Cynthia Goode Works, Director of the Stephen S. Weinstein Advocacy Program, and Asha Scielzo, Director of the Health Law and Policy Program, will serve as moderators.

This event will be hosted at AUWCL in Room NT01, Ceremonial Classroom. Lunch will be provided.

Registration is free but required.
