Animal Law & Environmental Law: Parallels & Synergies

Please join us in-person at American University, Washington College of Law for a discussion Professor Randall S. Abate, Assistant Dean of Environmental Studies at George Washington University Law School. In What Can Animal Law Learn From Environmental Law? (Environmental Law Institute Press, 2d ed., 2020), Professor Abate has assembled an experienced team of 36 academics, advocates, and legal professionals from the environmental and animal law fields to examine the experiences of these two fields. This presentation will first address some of the key themes of the book’s coverage. It will then provide case studies from the book’s chapters to illustrate how animal law can learn from environmental law and how the two fields can work together to secure mutual gains.

LLM: How to Craft a Cover Letter

Struggling with application materials for an internship or externship? We are here to help!
Office of Career and Professional Development (OCPD) will be hosting a LLM How to Craft a Cover Letter on Thursday, January 26th at 12-1:30 pm. The session will help you develop a stellar cover letter for your dream employer. To prepare for the session, watch the Crafting Compelling Cover Letter video to revise your existing document, and then bring the updated version to the session with you. During the session, you will trade feedback with your peers, and we will keep working with you until you get these just right!
Note: If you are an incoming LLM and SJD student, you must attend this workshop before requesting an individual appointment for cover letter review.

The Future of Health Care Series: Health Equity

The Health Law and Policy Program at American University Washington College of Law is pleased to launch a new series of panel discussions examining trends, challenges, and opportunities in health care and the role of law and policy.  The Future of Health Care series is presented in partnership with the American Health Law Association and the American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics and will highlight both practitioner and scholar perspectives on timely topics such as health equity, health reform, artificial intelligence, and data security.

This panel will examine health care access and delivery through the lens of health equity and will be moderated by Health Law and Policy Program Director Asha Scielzo.
