Admin Law Review - Detention and Incarceration Crises: Administrative Challenges and Potential Improvements

09:00AM - 03:30PM

The Administrative Law Review's Fall 2021 Symposium will examine the administrative structures and processes that are integral to the functioning of U.S. detention and carceral systems. In addition to persistent concern about how individuals enter these systems, there is heightened focus now on key administrative issues, including the provision of essential services, denial or preservation of individual rights, and privatization as a response to limited government capacity and resources. National discussions on immigration, refugee, and asylum processes as well as systemic racial injustice that is particularly acute in the criminal legal system make assessing the associated administrative challenges and potential improvements critical.
