UNCITRAL briefing with Anna Joubin-Bret: The Past Present and Future of the Reform of Investor-State Dispute Resolution
With the rise in globalization and international investment -- and treaties protecting that investment -- there has been an increase in the number of treaty-based claims that investors bring against states. Given the ongoing debate about this expanding area of international dispute settlement, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), particularly UNCITRAL's Working Group III, is actively involved in exploring procedural reform in these disputes between investors and states (ISDS).
