Puerto Rico in Crisis: Disaster Response through a Human Rights Lens
Why has the response to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico been so flawed?
What could have made it more adequate?
What can still be done?
Hear from a panel of experts provide insight into the crisis in Puerto Rico by assessing disaster management efforts through a human rights lens. While the US has responded swiftly to the damages caused by Hurricanes Harvey and Maria, the relief delivered to Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria has fallen short. The majority of the island’s residents still lack power and access to potable water, and relief has been marred by delays that have led to death and devastation in the months following the disaster.

The Geopolitics of Law in Latin America: Transnational Litigation and Investment Arbitration

This presentation will critically discuss the evidence available for assessing Latin American legal systems in those contexts.
