International Suite Talks Series

JD and LLM students interested in international law are encouraged to attend the International and Comparative Legal Studies program's International Suite Talks every Wednesday from 12-1 PM. Every week features a legal practitioner, alumni and/or faculty in different sectors of international law. These informal discussions can lead to networking opportunities and are a great way to learn about career paths in different fields of international law.

(Day 1) - The Unseen Impacts of Factory Farming: Economic Inequality, Animal Cruelty, and Human Rights

During the first segment, we will discuss the effects of corporate consolidation in animal agribusiness on small farmers. The second segment will explore the living conditions of animals raised for food and the associated ethics of factory farming. The third segment will highlight the human rights implications of the animal agriculture industry.

Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Information:

  • Licensed attorneys in Pennsylvania can obtain three (3) CLE credit hours for attending Day 1 and Day 2 of this symposium. CLE Fee: $55.00 using the event registration portal.

Elizabeth Brandley is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) who earned her MS in Health Promotion Management and a Graduate Certificate in Nutrition Education from American University. She is a research coordinator in the Nutritional Neuroscience Lab and an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Health Studies. Her research examines the effects of dietary intake and nutritional status on mental health, including psychological and cognitive outcomes in humans. She has presented her research findings at national and international conferences and has published in peer-reviewed journals.
