Participants in the Environmental Law Summer Session Visit Beveridge & Diamond

Participants, who represent 14 different countries, in the Environmental Law Summer Session visited leading environmental law firm, Beveridge & Diamond, on June 3 to learn about the firm’s international environmental law practice. Participants met with Paul Hagen (’90) and Russ Fraker both of whom work on domestic and international environmental law. The discussion centered around the Basel Convention on Hazardous Waste, the growing problem of how to regulate e-waste, and the ongoing problems related to conflict minerals. Hagen and Fraker discussed how they work with clients and how they advise them on international environmental law issues including how to address issues that may be governed by regulations stemming from multilateral environmental agreements, domestic regulations, or industry best practice. Additionally, the participants learned about the structure of U.S. law firms and what it’s like to work there.
