ITSO/WCL Online Course on Basic Principles of International Communications Regulation and Policy Launches March 16

 

On Monday, March 16, the online course on Basic Principles of International Communications Regulation and Policy launched with 50 participants from 17 countries. Fourteen ITSO member states from Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, El Salvador, Gambia, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Jamaica, Portugal, Switzerland, the United States make up the group of registered participants for the course. This new course is part of the joint ITSO/WCL Program on International Communication Regulation and Policy which has the following objectives: (i) enhancing academic offerings, (ii) raising awareness about the international communications sector and how it can be used to implement general global policy objectives such as the Millennium Development Goals and (iii) training professionals to act in the international communications sector. WCL faculty Advisory Board members for the joint program include Dean Claudio Grossman as well as Professors Jonathan Baker, Michael Carroll, David Hunter, Victoria Phillips, Tony Varona, and Perry Wallace. Faculty for the online course include Renata Brazil David, esteemed WCL alumna, head of the Program on International Communications Regulation and Policy, and Director of Legal Affairs for ITSO, Sofie Maddens, Adjunct Professor and head of Regulatory and Market Environment for the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Telecommunication Development Bureau. Guest lectures will be provided by Jose Toscano, Director General, ITSO, Patrick Masambu, Director of Technical Affairs, ITSO, and Francois Rancy, Director, ITU Radio Communication Bureau and other distinguished members of the Advisory Board of the Program on International Communications Regulation and Policy.
