Students Develop Guide for Domestic Violence Survivors

Left to Right: DVC Student Attorneys Brianna McCovey, Taylor Comstock, Drusti Ghandi, and Carly Nuttall

In addition to maintaining a consistent docket of Civil Protection Order (CPO) and accompanying family law cases in D.C. Superior Court, our Domestic Violence Clinic (DVC) students are working on projects that address survivors’ rights from a broader perspective. One DVC student “pod” is creating a practical legal guide for immigrant survivors.

The guide, commissioned by local legal nonprofit organization Ayuda, will include information that clients and attorneys do not focus on during CPO proceedings, such as criminal enforcement of CPOs, common tax problems, D.C. sick and safe leave, and housing remedies available to survivors.
