Billie Jo Kaufman
Associate Dean for Library and Information Services
Prior to joining the faculty of WCL in 2003, Billie Jo was director of the Law Library & Technology Center and Associate Professor of Law at Shepard Broad Law Center, Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where she held several positions within the law library system from 1987 until 2003. She also teaches and specializes in advanced legal research; cyber law; criminal procedure; legal research and writing and law librarianship.
Director of Collection Operations
Before becoming Director of Collection Operations, John served as Acquisitions/Serials Librarian, Access Services Librarian, and Technical Systems Coordinator. Prior to joining the Pence Law Library in 2002, John worked in various positions at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Library, the University of Connecticut Law Library, Hartford Public Library, and the Clayton College and State University Library.

Searching & Ordering Coordinator

Technical Systems Coordinator
Luis has worked at AU for over twenty years, the last six of which have been at the Pence Law Library. He administers, manages, and monitors the library’s integrated library system (ILS) and ensures access to electronic resources and databases. Luis also implements enhancements and troubleshoots problems ILS-related systems.
Information Architect Librarian
John is the information architect and digital media librarian at the Washington College of Law. As the library's information architect and webmaster, he designs the website and databases. John is also an adjunct professor of international law at WCL, and has taught international law and a seminar on international courts. Previously, he taught legal methods for several years.
Foreign, International & Rare Book Librarian
Bill has been a Foreign and International Law specialist for over 20 years. He is a 1985 graduate of the Washington College of Law and a member of the Virginia bar. Bill serves as the administrator of the European Union document depository.
Faculty Services Librarian
Ripple joined the library faculty in May 2007. She is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia bars and practiced law in Washington, DC prior to receiving her M.L.S. from the Catholic University of America. Ripple is the editor of the Washington College of Law SSRN Legal Research Paper Series.
Head of Collections and Bibliographic Services
Linda joined the library as Head of Collections and Bibliographic Services in August 2014. She worked previously as Head of IT at the Ottenheimer Library at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Linda received her MLIS in May 2001 from the University of South Carolina. She has over twelve years of library technology experience managing projects and workflows for academic libraries. Linda has given presentations on E-book metadata and integrated library systems; use of self-check-out systems; and technical services workflow.
Metadata/Digital Resources Librarian
Sima became a catalog librarian at WCL in March, 2004. Her primary job responsibility is the development of the Pence Law Library’s bibliographical database. Sima has been heavily involved in the implementation and maintenance of information technology library systems such as the Electronic Resource Management module and various Access and Management services for digital publications; as well as in configuration of the WebBridge LR - OpenURL link resolver and WebBridge Pathfinder Pro, a Smart Linking™ technology tool.
Student Services & Special Projects Librarian
Shannon is a 2006 graduate of WCL. She joined the Pence Law Library in December 2011 as an Evening Circulation Manager, became Special Projects Librarian in February 2013, and became Student Services Librarian in October 2014. Prior to transitioning to law librarianship, she clerked in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and practiced family law at a boutique firm in Washington, DC.
Research and Reference Librarian
Khelani is a 2009 graduate of WCL and has worked in the law library in various positions since 2006. She provides reference services to library patrons, develops research guides, and helps with collection development. She is proficient in HTML and JAVA code languages as well as website design.
Evening Circulation Manager
Jean-Richard has worked at WCL for nearly three years. He supervises circulation operations during the evening hours. Jean-Richard puts books on hold and emails patrons when they arrive and provides consistently excellent customer service to all library patrons.
Cataloging and Metadata Coordinator
Mimi has worked at the Pence Law Library for 9 years. Her primary duties include cataloging monographs and serials of various formats for Pence, OCPD, and the Clinic libraries; physical processing of print monographs and serials, including barcoding and labeling; assisting in maintaining consistency and integrity of data in the online catalog; delivery of requested materials to faculty and staff; reviewing incoming materials to determine proper workflow; assisting with the maintenance and updating of e-resources/e-resource profiles. Mimi speaks fluent Italian and is conversant in ASL.
Senior Serials Specialist
Geneva receives and processes all serials and government documents that are delivered to the library. She identifies and claims all serials not received by the expected date by contacting various vendors. Maintains all check-in records for public display. Responsible for routing serials to/from faculty and staff. Coordinates the filing in professors’ offices and the Clinic.
Evening Reference Librarian
Leonard has been a part-time reference librarian at Pence since 2008. He spent 15 years as a Legal Research Librarian at The George Washington University Law School before retiring in 2006. Leonard also worked as a law librarian at the Federal Judicial Center, Cardozo School of Law, University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and Harvard Law School.
Weekend Reference Librarian
Steve has extensive experience working in the libraries of several law firms and corporations. He is also an adjunct professor at Averett University and previously worked as a librarian at the George Washington University Law School.
