This lecture, now in its second year, is part of the Wenger Lecture Series on International Trade funded by the Henry E. & Consuelo S. Wenger Foundation. This endowment by the family of a WCL alum aims exclusively to promote study and research of international trade law, as well as to train young international trade lawyers. The 2017 Second Wenger Annual Lecture on Trade will feature the esteemed speaker Ambassador Alan Wolff, Deputy Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Join the Trade, Investment, and Development Program for its second Wenger Annual Distinguished Lecture on Trade on November 8, 2017. This year’s lecture will feature Ambassador Alan Wolff, Deputy Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO). Ambassador Wolff will discuss the current standing and future prospects of the world trading system. Prior to his appointment at WTO, Ambassador Wolff was one of the world’s leading international trade lawyers at the global law firm Dentons, and held various official positions in both Democratic and Republican administrations.

On October 17, 2017 American University Washington College of Law hosted the XIII Annual Symposium on International Trade co-sponsored by the Brazilian International Trade Scholars Inc. – ABCI Institute. The Symposium gathered ambassadors and government officials from Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and the European Union, trade scholars, law practitioners, and economic analysts to address a series of questions raised by the United States Administration’s new mindset with respect to trade policy.

On April 2, 2018, American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL) hosted a U.S. Trade Policy Panel on WTO Participation and Potential Violation. The panel was presented by AUWCL’s International Trade and Investment Law Society.
