Matt Bowers
Senior Finance & Grant Coordinator
Matt Bowers is the Senior Finance & Grant Coordinator for the Tech, Law & Security Program and the Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property (PIJIP) at American University Washington College of Law. He is responsible for both programs’ financial management, including writing grant proposals and reports, budget development, contract administration, and accounting. Prior to assuming this role, Matt worked for 7 years with the Washington College of Law’s War Crimes Research Office (WCRO), where he administered grants from the U.S. Department of State, the Open Society Foundations, UN Women, the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, the Finnish Foreign Ministry, and the Rockefeller Foundation. Matt also supported WCRO projects and programs, including leading the revival of the WCRO’s Afghanistan Documentation Project and launching a student blog on updates in international criminal law. He is a graduate of American University’s School of International Service and School of Public Affairs, holding a degree in International Studies and Political Science.
