TLS Student Fellow

Chuma Akana is a graduate student interested in data privacy, communication law, cybersecurity, national security and emerging technologies. Chuma has written papers focusing on harmful online content, data protection and digital retail lending, and financial technology/virtual currency regulatory framework. Chuma is currently a TLS Fellow, and is completing his graduate studies (LLM) in Intellectual Property and Technology Law.

Chuma is a student member of the American Bar Association and a member of the international Bar Association. He is also the Founder of the Innovation and Technology Lawyers Network (ITELAN), a network of lawyers and creatives/tech founders with the mission to bridge the law and technology gap in Africa. Chuma obtained his Bachelors of Law degree (LL.B) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria, with major in Commercial and International Law.
