Professor Michael Carroll will publish his piece Copyright in Characters: A Proposal for Reform for the University of Akron Law Review Symposium and ultimately in the Law Review. Professor Carroll’s contribution argues for reform, providing a high-level synthesis of the legal literature on character copyright, discussing the appeal pending in the Ninth Circuit in Carroll Shelby Licensing, Inc. v. Halicki, and positing that the character copyright doctrine will likely not be abandoned by courts. Initial publication available here.
