This week, PIJIP and the South Centre are running a short course on the legal issues being considered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR).

The briefing note discussed the share of the budget that is dedicated to advancement of the WIPO Development Agenda, and ways that WIPO could incorporate balanced IP into their workplan for the coming two years.

The main event, a Public Symposium on the "Protection of Copyright User Rights from Contractual Override," was co-hosted by the American Library Association and the Association of Research Libraries.  

H. Andrés Izquierdo, Senior Analyst Researcher at PIJIP, recently attended the 30th Session of the Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP) at the World Intellectual Property Organization.

The workshop - Nairobi, Kenya and online - will be cohosted with the Strathmore University Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law, Electronic Information for Libraries, and the Kenya Copyright Board.

Naama Daniel is currently a Research Fellow at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's Federmann Cyber Security Research Center. She is on sabbatical from her position as a legal advisor for the Israeli Parliament (the Knesset).
