On Friday, October 26, the Program on Law and Government hosted “The Role of the Federal Government in Protecting your Civil Rights” with Moderator Professor Fernando Laguarda and panelists Professor Richard Ugelow, Secretary Carlos Gutierrez, Dr. William Allen, Barbara Sard, Leon Rodriguez, Chiraag Bains, and Professor Seth Grossman.

 

The panel began with two keynote address from Secretary Carlos Gutierrez, former Secretary of Commerce and a second keynote speech by Dr. William Allen, former Chair, U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. The panel discussion was a robust conversation on the Government’s role in enforcing civil rights with a diverse collection of views. The panelists discussed the historic role of the federal government and how this administration is and isn’t acting similar to past administrations.
