So that Participants get the full benefit of being in Washington, D.C. the Academy organizes the following events. Most events are optional and have an additional cost. All participants are encouraged to participate in these events as well as those that are part of Human Rights Month since these are designed to complement classes.
Program Activities at Academy
Visit the organization in charge of promoting the observance and defense of human rights in the member countries of the Inter-American System. In Spanish only. Time: 10:30 - 2PM
Take a bus tour of Washington DC's most famous monuments as they light up at night. The tour will include the National Mall, the White House, The Smithsonian Museums, the US Capitol, Lincoln Memorial and maybe the FDR and Martin Luther King Jr. Memorials if we have enough time.
Two weeks completed! Only one more to go and you deserve a break! Join the Summer Program Staff and Faculty on the AUWCL Quad for a picnic buffet, outdoor games and activities. Time: 6:30 - 9 PM
Visit the main building of the Organization of American States and learn more about the organizations mission, to achieve among its members states "an order of peace and justice, to promote their solidarity, to strengthen their collaboration, and to defend their sovereignty, their territorial integrity, and their independence."
Join us for the Certificate ceremony, followed by a reception. Semi-formal/professional attire is encouraged. Time: 7-10 PM
