Dean Emeritus Claudio Grossman Presents on Climate Change Panel During 74th Session of the Sixth Committee of the UN General Assembly

 

Dean Emeritus and Professor Claudio Grossman—R. Geraldson Scholar for International Humanitarian Law at American University Washington College of Law and member of the UN International Law Commission—presented on a climate change panel this week while attending the 74th Session of the Sixth Committee of the UN General Assembly. 

 

For two weeks, the Sixth Committee addresses the work of the 71st Session of the International Law Commission, of which Professor Grossman served as the Chair of the Drafting Committee.  The Permanent Missions of Chile and Fiji to the UN held a side event on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019 on the topic of "Climate Change and Other Issues of Global Interest: Challenges and Opportunities for International Law."  The panel featured Professor Claudio Grossman, member of the International Law Commission; His Excellency Ambassador Satyendra Prasad, Permanent Representative of Fiji to the UN; Her Excellency Maria Teresa Infante, Ambassador of Chile to the Netherlands; and Professor Nilüfer Oral, Member of the International Law Commission.  The panel was moderated by Her Excellency Mariana Durney, Director General for Legal Affairs of the Foreign Ministry of Chile.
