I applied to the Kovler Project Against Torture because the Project is an opportunity to combine two of my favorite areas of the law, specifically international law and immigration law. I am hoping the Kovler Project will give me an opportunity to analyze how states are detaining immigrants and whether that detention is compliant with the Convention Against Torture.
The Project will expose me to environments and situations that not many are privileged to experience while in law school. After law school, I hope to remain in Washington, DC either working for a think tank or the government in a policy role, and I believe the Kovler Project will help me gain valuable tools that are transferable to the types of jobs that interest me. The researching and writing skills, along with the opportunity to work with an international organization, are tools that will be highly beneficial as I begin my career in the legal world.
