Fall Mini-Externship Fairs Connect Students with Employers in Business, Criminal Law, and Immigration
Upcoming fairs are scheduled for Sept. 26, Oct. 10, and Oct. 18
As part of the law school’s ongoing effort to assist students interested in growing practice areas, the Externship Program is sponsoring a series of mini-externship fairs again this fall. The fairs will connect upper level students with a wide range of employers – government agencies, nonprofit organizations, trade associations, courts, and firms working on pro bono matters – who are seeking externs and interns for upcoming semesters.
“We are excited to again host an outstanding line-up of employers for these fall mini-fairs, many of whom are represented by AUWCL alumni,” said Avis Sanders, director of the law school’s Externship Program. “The fairs offer an intimate setting, allowing students to engage in meaningful conversations with employers while they learn about the organizations’ work and informally interview for possible externship opportunities. It’s a good chance for our students to explore possibilities for the coming year.”
The Externship Program at AUWCL provides over 350 students a year with the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on legal experience with government agencies, public interest organizations, courts, and law firms engaged in pro bono work. The law school’s location in Washington, D.C., ensures that the Externship Program can provide students with a wide variety of exciting and valuable work experiences. Students also take advantage of externships across the U.S. and abroad.

Business, Finance, Tax, Intellectual Property, Communications, Health Law
Tuesday, Sept. 26, 5-6:30 pm, 35 employers have registered so far, including the FCC, SEC, and National Association of Manufacturers
Criminal Defense and Prosecution
Tuesday, Oct. 10, 5-6:30 pm, 20 employers registered so far, including Public Defenders Offices of DC, Maryland, and Alexandria, DOJ (multiple offices), and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia
Immigration, Employment, Gender, Family, LGBT, Education
Wednesday, Oct. 18, 5-6:30 pm, 38 employers registered so far, including Department of Homeland Security, Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia, and Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights (CAIR)
