The Confidentiality-Transparency Spectrum In International Arbitration: Where Do You Stand?

12:00PM - 01:00PM Tenley Campus - Warren N101 Classroom

Confidentiality is often cited as one of the main benefits of arbitration as opposed to litigation. However, the need of a higher level of transparency emerged years ago, especially for treaty-based investor-State arbitration. Commercial arbitration users are also increasingly demanding more openness, predictability and certainty regarding the arbitral process and its players. This has motivated major arbitral institutions to take some transparency measures.

On February  7, 2019,  from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Room N101, three young practitioners will discuss the Confidentiality-Transparency Spectrum. Speakers include: Álvaro Awad, Partner, Contreras Velozo from Chile; Javier Jaramillo, Senior Associate, Pérez Bustamante & Ponce in Ecuador; and Francisco Sepúlveda, Senior Associate, Sepúlveda Figueroa in Chile and LLM Candidate at AUWCL.
