Meet the Spring 2017 LLM Board
MAYS SALHI | PALESTINE
– President –
Mays Salhi is a Palestinian lawyer, enrolled in the LLM International Legal Studies Program, specializing in human rights. Mays is one of five students awarded the Palestine Rule of Law scholarship, an award sponsored by the Open Society Foundation. Graduating from Birzeit University in the Occupied State of Palestine in 2012, Mays worked on the Justice Sector Assistance project at the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Palestine. Before moving to Washington D.C. to start her graduate program, Mays worked as a junior legal expert for the Palestinian Ministry in Foreign Affairs, and interned at the Permanent Mission of the State of Palestine to the United Nations. She also participated, both as a student in 2012 and a judge in 2013, in the Jessup International Moot Court Competition. She is interested in human rights, international humanitarian law, and international criminal law.
HANSANI CHAPA WEDIKKARA ARACHCHIGE | SRI LANKA

Chapa Perera is a graduate of Law from Sri Lanka, currently reading for her LL.M. in International Legal Studies specializing in Gender and Human Rights. During her undergraduate studies, Chapa represented Sri Lanka at the United Nations as the Official Youth Representative, and is currently an Executive Committee member of the Commonwealth Youth and Gender Equality Network. She is also a Dean's Fellow for the UN Committee Against Torture Project under Jennifer de Laurentiis.
ARBER KADRIU | KOSOVO
– Treasurer –
Arber Kadriu holds a BA degree in Law, and is currently pursuing his LL.M. degree in International Legal Studies at American University Washington College of Law. He is specializing in International Trade Law and International Business Law. He has participated in many international debate competitions, such as the European Universities Debate Championship. Additionally, he has represented the University of Prishtina in the Philip Jessup Moot Court Competition (international rounds) in Washington D.C. in 2014 and Harvard's National Model UN in 2015 in Boston, MA.
AMÉLIE BEAUCHEMIN | FRANCE

Amélie Beauchemin is a French student and currently an LL.M candidate in the International Legal Studies Program at American University Washington College of Law, specializing in Human Rights. She is also finishing her master's degree in French, English, and American Law. Passionate about International Humanitarian Law and International Criminal Law, she is currently participating in the International Criminal Court Moot Competition representing WCL. Amelie is also a Dean's Fellow for the UN Committee Against Torture project under Jennifer DeLaurentiis.
