1927, of April 22, 1975, denounces acts of oppression in violation of human rights in Uruguay, listing individuals arrested, and the places and dates involved. The denunciation in question also alleges an absence of the internal remedies to which such victims may resort in defense of their rights.
The Secretariat acknowledged receipt on April 29, 1975.
The Commission examined this communication during its thirty-fifth session (May 1975). As in cases 1923 and 1926, Dr. Genaro R. Carri was appointed as rapporteur for this cases.
The rapporteur presented an oral report during that same session, on the basis of which the Commission decided the following:
To request the Government of Uruguay to provide appropriate information on the matter denounced and to separate from this file those denunciations of violations of human rights already referred to in other cases, so as to request the Government of Uruguay further information on the additional data provided by the claimant in regard to those cases.
Pursuant to this decision, a note was sent to the Government of Uruguay on August 7, 1975. A copy of that note was sent to the Uruguayan Mission to OAS on August 18, 1975. In a letter dated September 12, 1975, the claimant was informed of this decision.
During its thirty-sixth sessions (October 1975), the Commission continued its examination of case 1927, and decided to post-pone examination thereof until the next session, once the Government of Uruguay had had an opportunity to provide the information requested.
