*Paid* Fall Internship for WCL Students with Maryland Legal Aid's Human Rights Project

Get paid to intern in the D.C. metro area with Maryland Legal Aid, one of our Local Human Rights Lawyering Project partners! During fall 2013, Summer 2013, Maryland Legal Aid is looking to hire paid interns from WCL, preferably students with a human rights background.

Internship with Maryland Legal Aid Bureau's Human Rights Project (2 positions available for WCL students)

Location: Baltimore City, Kenilworth Ave or Rockville office.

Duties: Under the supervision of the Human Rights Project Director at Maryland Legal Aid, the fall intern may be assigned some or all of the following tasks: screening clients for eligibility and make referrals as appropriate; conducting preliminary and subsequent interviews with clients; scheduling appointments, hearings, and other types of proceedings; conducting factual investigations and analysis and legal research; preparing documents and correspondence which may include complaints, answers, discovery, memoranda of law and briefs; filing documents with courts as required; and assisting in the development of human rights framework and strategy for advocating on behalf of clients . 

Qualifications: Both 2Ls and 3Ls will be considered. Must have good written and oral communications skills and must demonstrate potential to perform duties of a law clerk. Preferably have taken 1-2 human rights law classes or have equivalent experience.
