On Nov. 7, American University Washington College of Law hosted the D.C. Diversity Consortium’s 3rd Annual 1L Diversity Career Fair with over 220 student attendees and 32 employer participants.

The event featured a panel focusing on diversity opportunities where leading professionals in the legal industry discussed various diversity-related scholarship and fellowship opportunities that are available to 1Ls, including information about the application process and how to be a competitive applicant. The panel was followed by an employer networking reception where 1L students had the opportunity to speak with a variety of legal organizations to learn more about their diversity-related opportunities. Panelists included:

  • DeMaris Trapp, senior associate, Hogan Lovells
  • Aaron Gleaton Clay, Judicial Internship Opportunity Program
  • Frost Telegadas, ACC National Capital Region
  • Jimmy Valenzuela, 2L at American University Washington College of Law

The D.C. Diversity Consortium (DCDC) is comprised of American University Washington College of Law, Howard University Law School, Georgetown University Law Center, and the George Washington University Law School. The goal of the organization is to address and help diverse law students overcome some of the challenges that they may face upon entering their legal careers. For additional information or to participate in future programming, please contact dcdiversityconsortium@gmail.com.
