Human Rights Lawyer
Kaveri I. Haritas is a human rights lawyer with a background in research and advocacy in gender and the law projects. She obtained experience in human rights litigation at both the trial and appellate levels, and has worked on development and human rights issues on both a grass roots and policy level. Specifically, her experience in gender and the law combines mainstream litigation, legal research, project management, social science research and grassroots level empowerment. She is presently involved with AMBA, an organization that works with women and the challenged community, where she heads the legal empowerment division. She is particularly interested in the issue of gender related research leading to the transformation of legal processes, feminist methodology and rural based women's legal empowerment programs. She is currently in charge of coordinating GALA activities in India.
