Jon P. Santamauro is Senior Director for International Government Affairs at AbbVie. Prior to joining AbbVie, he advised companies, trade associations and governments on patent law and international intellectual property and trade policy as a Counsel at Sidley Austin LLP. Mr. Santamauro previously was a Patent Attorney in the Office of Intellectual Property Policy and Enforcement at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), where he was responsible for numerous domestic and international patent law and policy matters. From 2003 to 2006, Mr. Santamauro served as Intellectual Property Attaché in the U.S. Mission to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland. During this time, he represented the United States at the WTO, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the World Health Organization (WHO) and other UN organizations in matters relating to intellectual property. Mr. Santamauro also worked in USPTO as a patent examiner. He also currently serves as adjunct faculty at American University Washington College of Law in Washington, DC.
Mr. Santamauro received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1992, and received his Juris Doctor, with highest honors, from the George Washington University in Washington, DC in 1999.
