Bio
Olwyn Conway is an Associate Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Criminal Justice Clinic. Prior to joining WCL, Professor Conway spent several years teaching the criminal clinics at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where she supervised students handling misdemeanor matters. In 2020, she received the Ohio State University Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching. Before joining Ohio State, Professor Conway taught the Criminal Litigation Field Clinic at the Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law, a year-long criminal defense clinic in which students represented indigent clients in misdemeanor trials and felony preliminary hearings.

Professor Conway’s scholarship focuses on restorative responses to criminal wrongdoing, narrative and storytelling in criminal trials, and legal education pedagogy. Her work has appeared or will appear in the Journal of Legal Education, Washington and Lee Law Review, the Denver Law Review, the Michigan State Law Review, and The Ohio State Journal of Criminal Law.

Prior to teaching, Professor Conway spent seven years as an Assistant Defender with the Defender Association of Philadelphia. She provided representation for thousands of indigent clients, with a specialty in major criminal trials and a focus on family violence and sexual offense cases.

Professor Conway is a trained restorative justice facilitator and volunteered for several years with Franklin County’s juvenile court circles. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, where she received the Summer Jackson-Healy Public Service Award and the Pennsylvania Bar Association Public Interest Award for her public service work.
