Welcome, Bienvenidos, and Boa Vinda!
The American University Washington College of Law is proud to welcome you to the Ninth Annual NLLSA Conference in our Nation's Capitol!
For the first time in NLLSA's history, our conference will be held in Washington, D.C., where the political and historical significance of our city will make this conference truly memorable. Washington, D.C. is a perfect setting to develop our legal and policy-making skills while raising awareness about our responsibility to develop leadership in the legal profession. As the Latino population increases, our political leverage and market consumption will influence the future path of the United States.
Our Theme "Caminos Diversos, Destino Comn: Understanding Our Legal Rights and Responsibilities" reflects the richness of the Latina/o population at WCL and throughout the country. The NLLSA membership reflects the diverse histories, roots, languages, and political viewpoints of the Latina/o community, but we stand by the common goal of incorporating Latinos into the U.S. legal, political, social, and economic systems. Conscious of our role in the Latina/o community, we wanted to underscore our responsibilities to become forward thinking lawyers as well as political leaders, community organizers, judges, professors, and to empower our community and the U.S. society as a whole.
