Board Positions

 

IP Society has four board positions: President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. If you are interested in running for a position, please email (ipla@wcl.american.edu) by 8pm on March 20 with a short statement about yourself, why you want the position(s), and what you can contribute to the position(s). These statements will then be complied and posted to the TWEN site for voting. Please note that leadership positions are limited to people who will be students during the 2009-2010 school year.

President
Preside over planning meetings of the Board;
Attend SBA events requiring student leaders’ attendance;
Resolve internal governances of the Board;
Represent IPLS to third parties.

Vice-President
Assist the President in the performance of his or her duties, as delegated by the President;
Act as President when the President is unable to perform his or her duties;
Assume the office of the President upon the President's death, resignation, removal, or inability to perform duties until an election can be held;
Act as a mediator between the WCL webmaster, monitoring and editing the IPLS website.

Treasurer
Manage the bank account and SBA-approved budget;
Attend SBA meetings and finance meetings, writing and submitting the SBA-approved budget, upon approval of the Board, and petitioning for funding when necessary;
Act as the mediator between the Finance Office and the Board, making purchases on behalf of IPLS and overseeing purchasing by another member of the Board.

Secretary
Take minutes of all formal or informal IPLS planning meetings;
Monitor the IPLS listserve, forwarding pertinent information from faculty and third parties;
Act as the mediatory between TWEN, monitoring the site and consolidating the IPLS listserve and the TWEN members, and using the site accordingly.
