National First Amendment Moot Court Competition

The Burton D. Wechsler National First Amendment Moot Court Competition is a renowned tournament that consistently attracts top competitors from across the country. This competition has presented the opportunity to argue cutting-edge cases in front of renowned judges in the nation’s capital for twenty-six years.
Past competition problems have addressed a wide variety of First Amendment issues, including speech by public officials, municipal regulation of businesses, the rights of public school students, and legislator led prayer.
We are honored to host our distinguished judicial panel for the final arguments, consisting of WCL’s incoming Jurist in Residence, the Honorable Pamela A. Harris of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, who will be joined by the Honorable Reggie Walton of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and the Honorable Timothy B. Dyk of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Early Bird Registration: May 1 to July 20; $500 for a team of 2 competitors, $550 for a team of 3 competitors
