National First Amendment Moot Court Competition

The Burton D. Wechsler National First Amendment Moot Court Competition is a renowned tournament that consistently attracts top competitors from across the country. This competition has presented the opportunity to argue cutting-edge cases in front of renowned judges in the nation’s capital for twenty-five years.
Past competition problems have addressed a wide variety of First Amendment issues, including speech by public officials, municipal regulation of businesses, and the rights of public school students. A distinguished 3-judge panel will preside over the final argument. The final panel will include the Honorable Stephen A. Higginson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the Honorable Reggie B. Walton of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and the Honorable Timothy B. Dyk of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
