How to Join

ADRHS INTRODUCTORY COMPETITION

What is it?: The ADRHS Introductory Competition (Intro) is designed to help students get a grasp on what alternative dispute resolution is all about. It also gives students who want to try out for the team a leg up on the competition by exposing them to the format, allowing them to get comfortable with the type of performance required to be admitted onto this Honor Society.

Who can participate?: Any first, second, or part-time third year from WCL may participate.

What is required?: Competitors will prepare three things based off of a problem written by the ADRHS Competitions Director: (1) a negotiation plan prepared in tandem with another competitor, (2) a 40-minute negotiation with a partner randomly selected by ADRHS against another partnered team, and (3) a 10 minute arbitration that assumes the negotiation has failed. Competitors will be given 24 hours to work with their partner before the negotiations commence.

When is it?: January 15-16, 2022

Registration: Register for the Spring 2022 ADRHS Introductory Competition.

ADRHS Spring Qualifying Tournament (SQT)

What is it?: To join ADRHS, competitors must perform relevant skills in front of a panel of ADRHS team members and practitioners. Oration, Organization, Team Work, and Confidence are just some of those skills that SQT will test.

Who can participate?: Any first, second, or part-time third year from WCL may compete – joining an honor society is a one year commitment.

What is required?: The format is identical to the Intro Competition, but is based off of a different fact pattern. Competitors will prepare three things based off of a problem written by the ADRHS Competitions Director: (1) a negotiation plan prepared in tandem with another competitor, (2) a 40-minute negotiation with a partner randomly selected by ADRHS against another partnered team, and (3) a 10 minute arbitration that assumes the negotiation has failed. Competitors will be given 48 hours to work with their partner before the negotiations commence.

When is it?: February 19-20, 2022

Registration: Please check back in the Spring semester for the registration link to the Spring 2022 ADRHS SQT Competition.
