This fall, Dean Claudio Grossman accepted the unanimous recommendation for the new internal Faculty Teaching and Service Awards from the Faculty Awards selection committee, composed of Professors Christine Farley, Teresa Phelps, Jamin Raskin, Jayesh Rathod, and Paul Rice. The awards and winners for 2011 are:
Innovation in Pedagogy Award Winners
This award recognizes exceptional creativity and innovation in instruction, including but not limited to, the use of technology.
Teaching Leadership Award Winner
This award recognizes institutional leadership focused on improving the variety, quality, and rigor of teaching at the Washington College of Law. Such leadership may include, but is not limited to, the development of new courses and/or teaching materials, the revitalization of existing courses, and the mentoring of colleagues in teaching.
Exemplary Teaching Award Winner
This award recognizes outstanding teaching, as reflected by thoughtful pedagogy, commitment to student mentoring and advising, and/or the creation of an intellectually challenging classroom environment.
Internal Service Award Winner
This award recognizes outstanding service by a faculty member within the law school or university. Service may include, but is not limited to, involvement with faculty committees, support to student organizations, collaborations with other offices at WCL, and more.
External Service Award Winner
This award recognizes outstanding service by a faculty member outside of the law school or university. Service may include, but is not limited to, involvement with local or national organizations, professional associations and bodies, pro bono work, volunteer work, and more.
Adjunct Teaching Award Winner
This award recognizes outstanding teaching, thoughtful pedagogy, committed student mentoring, or exceptional creativity and innovation in instruction by a member of the adjunct faculty.
