Join Dean Claudio Grossman, Horacio Grigera Naón and David Hunter at this reception in honor of the participants of the 2009 International Arbitration and Environmental Law Summer Sessions. The reception will take place on Thursday, May 28, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at American University Washington College of Law, 4801 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC in the Deans’ Suite (3rd Floor).

The Federal Arbitration Act in Practice:
Overview, Selected Issues and a Case Study

Monday, June 1, 2009, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Room 500

 

The seminar will cover the structure of the Federal Arbitration Act, how it works in practice, current "hot topics" in the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in the United States and will include a brief case study of the U.S. courts role in an international commercial arbitration dispute between U.S. and Latin American companies involving a commodities shipment from a third country.  The seminar will be taught by Janis Brennan, Partner, Foley Hoag LLP.  

Seminar Fee: $80 (includes 4 CLE credits and lunch). The Seminar is free for people registered in at least one Arbitration Summer Session Course

Come and network with the faculty experts and participants of the 2009 Arbitration Summer Session. Coffee hours will take place at American University Washington College of Law, 4801 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC in room 600 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 30, in the Dean’s Suite on Thursday, June 5, and Thursday, June 12.  During the coffee hours certificates of attendance will be distributed among participants.
