Irma Raker

Judge Raker is a 1972 graduate of the Washington College of Law. As a law student she was active with the law review.

She is currently a Judge for the Maryland Court of Appeals, 7th Appellate Circuit (Montgomery County). She is Chair of the Judicial Compensation Committee, Maryland Judicial Conference and a Member, Article 27 (crimes & punishments) Revision Committee. She previously served as a member of both the Public Awareness Committee, Maryland Judicial Conference and the Family Violence Council.

Judge Raker serves on the Advisory Board of the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, and is on the Board of Directors of Jobs Unlimited. She is the recipient of several awards including but not limited to; the Rita C. Davidson Award, Women's Bar Association of Maryland (1995), Maryland's Top 100 Women, Daily Record (1997, 1999, 2001), the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Washington College of Law (1999), Century of Service Award, Montgomery County Bar Association (1999), Outstanding Jurist Award, Montgomery County Bar Association (2000), The Daily Record's Maryland Leadership in Law Award (2001), and the American Bar Association's Margaret Brent Award (2007). Judge Raker is also an adjunct faculty member at the law school, instructing students in trial advocacy.
