American Inn of Courts

The Trial Advocacy Program has a partnership with the William B. Bryant American Inn of Court sponsoring qualified students each year to become members of the Inn of Courts.   This sponsorship provides an excellent opportunity for students to further develop their litigation skills and network with some of the finest practitioners and trial judges in the D.C. Metropolitan area.

Students attend monthly dinner meetings designed to promote social interaction, professional relationship and camaraderie in a setting of education and skills development.  Focused on the development of skills, Inn programs provide creative, practical, interactive instruction in all areas of legal practice.

The Trial Advocacy Program supervises the students in their participation in the Inn monitoring them at the meetings, providing guidelines for the application and selection process, and providing faculty advising.  Professor Elizabeth Lippy is the faculty sponsor over the student delegation and is enrolled in the Inn as a “Barrister.”  Before moving to Washington College of Law, she served a president of The Montgomery County Inn of Courts in Pennsylvania.

The William B. Bryant American Inn of Court

The William B. Bryant American Inn of Court is named for the late Judge William B. Bryant, who was a gifted trial lawyer and, at his death, a Senior Judge for the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. The Bryant Inn has approximately 100 members, divided into seven teams, each of which includes judges, lawyers and law students. Every team is responsible for presenting one program a year for the edification and entertainment of the other Inn members.
