The Capitol City Challenge

The American University, Washington College of Law Stephen S. Weinstein Trial Advocacy Program and Mock Trial Honor Society proudly announce the Ninth Annual Capitol City Challenge. This year’s competition takes place on March 2 - March 5, 2017 at American University, Washington College of Law's new Tenley Campus. The competition features a criminal case problem and access to modern courtroom technology. Following the preliminary rounds, all teams are invited to a banquet where we announce the eight teams advancing to the quarterfinal round and celebrate the accomplishments of every competitor.

We also present a “Best Advocate” award to the best prosecution and defense advocates from the preliminary rounds. Quarter-finalist and semi-finalist teams will receive plaques, while the first and second place teams will receive trophies. Additionally, members of the winning team and the runner-up will receive individual awards commemorating their accomplishments, with the Eugene N. Hamilton Best Advocate award presented to the best advocate in the final round.
