Applying to the Re-Entry Clinic

Quick facts for prospective Re-Entry Clinic applicants:

  • The Re-Entry Clinic is offered as a semester-long clinic in the fall and spring. Preference will be given to applicants who are part-time students, but all JD students may apply.

  • Students enrolled in the Re-Entry Clinic will receive five credits: two for the seminar and three for case work.

  • The student time commitment for the Re-Entry Clinic is approximately 15 hours per week.

  • Evidence and Legal Ethics are preferred pre-requisites for the Re-Entry Clinic, but they are not required.

  • The seminar meets on Wednesday evening, from 6:00-7:50 p.m. Other clinic work depends on the demands of your cases and scheduled weekly meetings with your supervisor. The weekly meetings should be scheduled so as not to conflict with your day job if you are a part-time student; however, some of the work on your case(s), including any court and prison file review and court hearings, will require time during the work day. While we try to keep time that conflicts with part-time students’ work schedules to a minimum, it is important to make clear to your employer that there will be some demand on your time during business hours.

  • The Re-Entry Clinic will have a mandatory orientation on a Saturday at the beginning of each semester.
