Conflicts of Interest

The Clinical Program is considered a single law firm for all clinic students except for those placed in the Prosecution section of the Criminal Justice Clinic or the Rising for Justice Housing and Advocacy and Litigation Clinic, where the fieldwork placements are not at AUWCL. Under most circumstances, students enrolled in an "in-house" clinic may not accept paid or unpaid positions with any State’s Attorney’s Office in Maryland, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), D.C. Public Schools, Department of Homeland Security (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)), U.S. Department of Justice (Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) and Office of Immigration Litigation (OIL)), the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, the Office of the Attorney General of the District of Columbia, the Legal Advisor’s Office in the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Copyright Office, and any judge on the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.
